The Patriarchs: God's Plan Unfolds Demonstrations

Pic of Boys YOU and a group from your church can be involved in reaching neighborhood children in any place that children gather - homes, club houses, recreational centers, after-school care facilities, day care centers, backyards and churches! On June 11, 2001 the Supreme Court ruled that Good News Clubs have equal access to meet in public school facilities after hours. This decision has opened an unprecedented opportunity to reach multitudes of children with the Gospel. Learn more about Good News Club.

Be sure to watch the series overview to get a big picture of this series. Also club overviews at the beginning of each lesson demonstration will provide details about the type of Bible lesson included in that club and other key things that you will want to teach during club that week. Demonstrations of the Bible lessons, memory verses, Wonder Times and songs are provided to help you as you prepare to teach. These demonstrations have been created for you as a study tool. Keep in mind that they are not designed to substitute for a lesson in an actual club or another teaching time with children. As you watch these demonstrations to help you prepare to teach, you will see the elements that should be included in your lesson as well as interactive ideas to help keep the children engaged.

The demonstrators have prepared the lesson themselves using their own words so that the lesson flows naturally. Be aware that the demonstrations were recorded from beginning to end as you would see in a training situation with minimal editing so you will see natural things that would happen in a live training such as pauses, etc.

    • Memory Verse Demos

      Memory Verse Demos

The CEF method for effectively teaching a memory verse is the IPEAR method. (For more information about the IPEAR method, be sure to view Scripture Smart to Heart.) With the curriculum updates, some helpful modifications have been added to the memory verse teaching time.

      • New memory verse repetition games have been added.
      • Verses will be taught over multiple weeks which will help the the children will retain the memory verses.
      • A maximum of three verses or passages will be taught per lesson serie since children may have difficulty learning a new verse each week.
      • A new IPEAR will be provided for each week. Even though one verse may be taught over multiple weeks, a new IPEAR will be provided in the lesson text each week. It will be important for you to study the IPEARs and see how to teach the verse differently each week. The memory verse, along with the Bible lesson and Wonder Time, make for a well-rounded teaching time for the children. You will need to include all three of these elements to teach the concepts thoroughly.

As you watch the memory verse demonstrations, look for how the verse is taught and also how the teaching fits in with the concepts covered in this lesson found in the introduction section in each week’s lesson text.

    • Wonder Time Demos

      Wonder Time Demos

What is Wonder Time? In the new curriculum, Wonder Time includes important discipleship teaching for the saved child. Wonder Time will focus on a child’s relationship with God. As the Good News Club year progresses, Wonder Time will include teaching on prayer, the Bible and devotional life.

The Wonder Time teaching is included in the lesson text. In fact, club isn’t complete without Wonder Time because it goes along with the lesson and verse teaching.  Wonder Time, along with the memory verse and Bible lesson, make for a rounded teaching time for the children. You will need to include all three of these elements to teach the concepts thoroughly. The content of Wonder Time is varied each week to go along with the concepts that are covered in the club hour and is not tied to specific content in the Wonder Devotional books. However, the use of Wonder Devotional books is strongly encouraged to help children spend time with God each day.  As you watch the Wonder Time demonstrations, look for the concepts taught about spending time with God each day, as well as how this teaching fits into the concepts covered in this lesson found in the introduction to each week’s lesson.

Technical FAQs / Help Desk Instructions

The presentation file won't load. What should I do?

Be sure the play button in the control bar at the bottom left of the presentation screen has been pressed to begin the presentation.

Depending on the number of students online at a given time, the file may take longer to load. Allow several minutes for the presentation to load and try pressing the play button again.

The presentation file requires the Flash Player plug-in to work correctly. Make sure that you have downloaded this plug-in. Follow the instructions to download and install the software. After this process is complete, try to open the file again. (Free Download Click this link and then click "Agree and install now" in the yellow box.) (Note: If you already have this plug-in, you may at times be prompted to upgrade to a new version of Flash. If prompted to do so, allow the plug-in to update so that it will continue to play the presentation files in the future.)

Due to the streaming audio and video presentations that will be used to deliver content, a dial-up connection is not suggested. If you are using a dial-up connection, the presentation could take a significant amount of time to load before it will begin to play at all. Allow 10 minutes or longer for the file to load and begin to play.

If after trying all of these suggestions, you are still experiencing problems, contact the Help Desk with the specific information outlined below.

I receive a message "Navigation to the webpage was canceled". What should I do?

You may have seen a box that says something like this: "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection which could compromise the security of the entire webpage." The answer on this page should be No. The videos do not need to this kind of secure connection as they do not contain any personal or financial information. The pages that contain personal or financial information are the only pages that need this kind of secure connection. When you chose "Yes" on this page, it blocked the videos. It may also have said “This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items? The answer here should be 'Yes'". If you said, “No”, then it would block the videos as well. The message may have been a little different based on your version of IE, but the main thing is that you don't want to block nonsecure content as that content does not need that kind of secure connection.

The presentation is not streaming smoothly. It is skipping and is hard to follow and understand. What should I do?

Sometimes a file requires longer to download depending on its size and how many users are online and accessing the file. Press the pause button of the control bar located at the bottom left of the presentation screen. Wait a few minutes for the file to download and buffer.

NOTE: You may experience the same thing again. If this happens, pause the presentation again and allow the file to download and buffer again.

The presentation is playing but there is no sound. What should I do?

The presentation player has a volume control as well as a mute button. Make sure the mute button is off and the volume slide is all the way to the right. If you have external speakers, make sure the speakers are plugged in and turned on with the volume turned up. Computers that have internal speakers like laptops may have a mute button and a volume control to adjust. You can also check your volume control program to make sure the slides are up and the mute is not checked.
